NCPlenty in the News... If you have news to share with the PLENTY membership and the rest of the community, please send it to us! You can submit an item by emailing membership@ncplenty.org or mailing it to: NCPlenty, 1603 Homestead Road, Chapel Hill, NC 27516. Previous news stories are archived here. November Board of Trustees Meeting - Nov 15 - PGS The NCPlenty Board of Trustees will meet on Wednesday November 15 from 7:00 to 9:00pm at the Pittsboro General Store Cafe. The first hour of the meeting will be dedicated to a new project: creating a newly-expanded, exciting and attractive membership directory to be widely distributed in the local area. We want local businesses to see being listed in the directory as an obvious bottom-line value, and for local consumers to view the directory as the best way to find a "truly local" place to spend PLENTYs and dollars. Anyone interested in being involved should consider attending; graphic designers and visual artists are especially welcome. There will also be a half-hour Public Interest Meeting from 6:30 to 7:00pm in the same location. This is an open forum for anyone attending to voice comments, questions, concerns, or ideas.
PLENTY Featured on North Carolina Now - With Rebroadcast Available The PLENTY was featured on UNC-TV's North Carolina Now on Tuesday April 18. The piece was produced by Kelly McCullen and featured interviews with NCPlenty members Scott Every of Blast, James Watts, Jr. of Weaver Street Market, volunteer (and founding member) Stacye Leanza, and Trustee Matt Kalb.Just in! UNC TV has provided us with a link to a webcast of this feature story at http://www.unctv.org/ncnow/nceconomics/economy.html. Viewing the webcast requires Real Player, which is available for free here (look for the words "Free Download"). "Earning Interest" - reprint from Our State Magazine NCPlenty has received kind permission to reprint the article "Earning Interest" from the September 2005 issue of Our State magazine. This lovely piece covers the Numismatic Collection in the North Carolina Collection at Wilson Library, as well as its Keeper, Mr. Neil Fulghum (who you may recall was NCPlenty's Guest Speaker at the last Annual Gathering). NCPlenty previously had permission for a text-only reprint, but today we can offer the full-color version featuring truly beautiful photos of the collection, including the PLENTY. There is also a special concluding section specifically about the PLENTY. We offer the full reprint here (requires Adobe Acrobat) for your enjoyment. The first download might take a little time, but please be patient--the photos are worth it! The reprint is possible by the permission of Our State magazine and author Shannon Farlow, whom we thank for the fine article. We also thank NCPlenty Member Bob Schreiner who donated a substantial portion of the reprint fee. Previous news stories are archived here. |
