Blast CEO Honored with Impact 100 Recognition
Visionary Leader Recommends That We All "Get Obsessed and Stay Obsessed"

Pittsboro, NC – 14 January 2003 – Lyle Estill, CEO of the largest web services company in the Triangle, Blast Internet Services, has been named by Business Leader Magazine as one of this year’s Impact 100 winners. His photo, accomplishments for 2002, and personal motto, "Get obsessed and stay obsessed," appear in the January 2003 issue of Business Leader.

After building three prize-winning companies in the Triangle -- while creating life-sized sculpture and advancing social and educational causes in Chatham County – Estill was tapped by his former employees to lead Blast Internet Services as CEO.

This past year, he brokered the merger between Blast Software and EMJ Internet, creating the largest web services company/ISP in the Triangle – and he did it with no job layoffs. As Blast Internet Services’ new CEO, he has helped employees find their niches within the new company while streamlining operations with a new methodology for delivery.
Lyle has also raised the awareness of Blast in the media and with area business organizations; championed an environmentally conscious work environment; and nurtured community spirit in the Triangle by being the first ISP in the area to accept the local currency, the NC PLENTY, as partial payment for Internet access.

In the past year, he also united the small municipality of Moncure, NC in its fight to prevent a large dump/landfill from being constructed near town. As spokesperson for Moncure homeowners, Lyle attended countless meetings before planners and county government.

He is currently in the process of founding a small art museum in Moncure. Also in Moncure, which is near Estill’s home in Chatham County, he has created an artist incubator, named Moncure Chessworks, which gives shop/studio space to area artists.

A devoted family man, with four children, he says of his Impact 100 recognition, "I want to thank Business Leader for this honor. There is an abundance of opportunity around each of us every day. I personally cannot sit still, and I urge others to likewise get involved."

Business Leader recognized Estill as someone who leads by example. He is a person of principle and is an idealist. He lives what he preaches – i.e. He is staunch environmentalist who lives in a low-impact way and recycles everything. He teaches to love and take care of the world, and to support the local community by spending money locally.

He sends his children to the Chatham County Schools and is dedicated to bringing art into the everyday lives of the children who attend there. He recently donated a life-size steel panther to Moncure Elementary School, and he commissioned an artist to paint a mural in the school cafeteria--transforming the appearance of the school.
