Overview
NCPlenty, Inc. is a non-profit corporation working to
promote local commerce, fair wages, environmental responsibility,
self-reliance, and neighborliness through the implementation and
support of a local currency, the PLENTY. Our geographic area of
focus is Orange and Durham counties, as well as portions of
Alamance and Chatham counties, in the state of North Carolina.
We are governed by a Board of Trustees comprised of five to seven
members elected by our membership and up to two additional
Trustees appointed by the elected Board. Membership is open to
all people within our geographic area of focus who share our goals
and who agree to participate by accepting PLENTYs as full or
partial payment for goods and/or services they provide.
The rights and responsibilities of members and of the Board of Trustees are detailed
in our official bylaws. To review a copy of our bylaws,

Membership
The membership of NCPlenty is divided into two categories:
provider and employee. Provider members agree to accept
PLENTYs as full or partial payment for goods and/or services.

(a provider member) in PLENTYs. To sign up as an employee
member, click here.
Members must reside and/or do business in
the Corporation's geographic area of focus and pay a small
annual membership fee, which this year is $12 for providers and
$6 for employee members. As an alternative to the fee, a
prospective member can volunteer two hours of work with NCPlenty.
All members have full voting rights and receive an issuance of the
currency when the Board of Trustees authorizes such an action.
Provider members also receive listing in the NCPlenty
Membership Directory.
Governance
NCPlenty is governed by a Board of Trustees comprised
of five to seven elected Trustees and up to two appointed
Trustees. The elected Trustees are voted into office by the
membership and must be members of NCPlenty themselves. The
appointed Trustees receive their appointment from the elected
Board and can be selected from amongst the membership or the
community at large. The Board of Trustees conducts the affairs
of NCPlenty according to the policies ratified by the membership.
Trustees do not receive compensation in any form for their service
on the Board.

Elections for the Board take place at each Annual Meeting
(first Saturday in October). This year, that was October 5th at Wilson Park in
Carrboro.
